The 2011 kick-off walk starts at the Madison Civic Center at 8:30 a.m. After the walk, Judy Bortman, of Morris County Trans Options, will talk about safety issues such as cell phone usage, walking while listening to music, surface conditions, lights, intersections and more. A light breakfast will be served during the lecture.
Membership is not required for the Rose City Steppers' walks but interested parties can join for $12 for adults and $10 for seniors. The membership includes online health messages, reminders of upcoming walks and activities and a new member package that includes a Rose City Steppers backpack, a Madison Walks book of local walk routes and a waist pack with attachable water bottle.
