Special Needs Student Art Show Celebrates National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

ECLC of New Jersey is holding its first student art show on Thursday, March 15, to celebrate National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. It will feature artwork for sale created by ECLC’s students, who have special needs, including autism, Down syndrome and severe learning disabilities.
Inspiration for the show came from a local youngster, Emily Czachor, 16, a junior at Madison High School, who has been volunteering after school at ECLC for some time. Emily is an intrepid youngster, talented performer
and artist. She is a singer and appeared in the New York City production of an “American Girl Musical” and was in the high school’s production of “The Odd Couple” last fall. She also runs a small business, creating paintings for
children’s bedrooms. She donates half of her profits to charitable organizations, with a particular interest in children and the arts. Last year, she gave ECLC an unexpected $500 donation.
The public is invited to view the exhibit of ceramics, water color paintings and more and enjoy light refreshments from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the ECLC school located at 21 Lum Avenue, Chatham. There is no admission fee! All
proceeds from the sale will benefit the ECLC Foundation.
