
Summer Camp for a Day: Navigation and Knots, Tuesday, July 12th 10 AM - 2 PM
Campers will learn how sailors navigated the seas with compasses and other instruments. Activities include making a simple compass, the history of string and ropes and how they have and are used today in sailing and other activities. Campers will practice knot tying and will take home rope and a handout of knots to use in their everyday lives. Crafts include a chain knot bracelet/necklace. This camp is appropriate for children ages 4-12 and is a full day of activities without the long term commitment. Campers will learn about different aspects of history and participate in a variety of hands-on craft projects based on the Museum’s exhibits. Campers ages 4-6 are required to have an adult present.
