Madison Church Forms Team for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

First Baptist Church of Madison has joined forces with Jo's Hope to raise more than $20,000 for breast cancer research and awareness.

Over the years First Baptist Church and Jo’s Hope has raised more than $20,000 for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer annual event. This year the two groups have combined to form the team FBC Jo’s Circle.

“Our team is dedicated to the fight against breast cancer and we are raising funds in honor of all those who have been personally touched by this disease,” a member of First Baptist Church said. “Our personal face on this issue is that of Deaconess Josephine (Jo) James who served as our Church Clerk for many years.”

Jo James was a Criminal Records Supervisor at the New Jersey Superior Court in Morristown until her retirement in September 2008. She was well known around the courthouse and loved her job and was heartbroken when, because of her health, she had to retire. Jo worked just as tirelessly as First Baptist Church’s Clerk and her contributions were recognized when the church placed a memorial for her, Jo’s Circle, in Carol’s Garden located on the church grounds.
