First US Appearance for 11 Year Old Piano Prodigy

Mentor Michael Berkovsky to introduce his protege at The Thursday Morning Club's Madison Community House Friday 3/27/15

First US Appearance for Piano Prodigy

When Leonid Nediak, a native of Kingston, Canada, was nine years old, he entered the Canadian Music Competition which took place in Sherbrooke, Que. He performed in the nine year old group and attained a score of 99. Since this was the highest score of all between the ages of seven and ten, he was named the overall winner in that age range. He won bt playing Chopin’s Concerto No. 1, 1st Movement. His performance reportedly brought some to tears. Judge Louise Bessette was impressed that a nine year old would play such a Chopin piece because it is so long and difficult.

This young pianist, now eleven years old, continues to win national competitions in Canada. He will appear for the first time in the United States at the Thursday Morning Club’s Madison Community House on Friday, March 27. The evening begins at 6:30 with refreshments provided by the TMC’s catering department, followed by the concert at 7:30. The seating is limited to 110 and the cost is $25.All checks should be sent to TMC/Piano Concert, PO Box 345, Madison, NJ. 07940. Cancelled checks will serve as a receipt; no tickets will be mailed.
