Weisenstein said that she is so grateful for the contributions that the Friends have made to the library because they have enabled her to carry out all of the many programs her department holds for Madison’s children. Favreau said that she looks forward to working with the Friends and serving the Madison community as its new director. She also complimented Adamczyk for her lasting legacy.
Friends Chairwoman, Sylvia Luber, stated, “It is an honor and privilege for the Friends of the Madison Public Library to accept this award, and we thank Emily for nominating us. We also thank the many members of the Madison community who have generously supported all of our fundraisers. We cannot do this without them.”

Recent additional contributions include $24,000 for the construction of the new Children’s Picture Book Room and $6,000 for an upgrade of the library’s public Wi-Fi system. The Friends also fund the Library’s Museum Pass Program that offers free passes to 15 local and NYC museums.
The main sources of Friends’ revenue include fundraisers like the biennial Touch a Truck event, the Annual Appeal, the Friends’ Spring Gala and the Drew Minicourse Adult Education Program, co-sponsored with Drew University.
