Friends to toast Rotary at Gala, March 7th

The Friends of the Madison Public Library are hosting a Gala honoring the Rotary

The Rotary Club of Madison will be the honoree when the Friends of the Madison Public Library hold their annual Gala from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, at the library, 39 Keep Street.
We will celebrate the Rotary Club for their generous contributions of volunteer time and grant funding to the FMPL.

The Library Gala is a wonderful opportunity to catch up with old friends as well as meet new people who share an interest in supporting the library. A variety of appetizers, wine and beer will be served. A 50/50 raffle will be held. Invitations have been mailed to all residents in the Friends’ database, but all are welcome to make reservations.

Reservations are $50 each; checks can be made payable to the Friends of the Madison Public Library and mailed to 39 Keep Street, Madison, NJ 07940 along with the RSVP card. Reservations may also be made in person at the library, or by going online to www.friends-mpl.net. Cancelled checks will serve as a receipt: no tickets will be mailed.

Proceeds from the Gala and other Friends’ events benefit special library programs, particularly children’s programs, and expanded book and media collections not covered in the library budget.

During the past year, one of the special projects funded by the group was the new outdoor furniture in the courtyard. With accessibility to Wi-Fi, the courtyard became a popular place to
study, work or meet a friend for a sandwich.

Adult education programs sponsored by the Friends include the Drew University mini-courses, Tech Tuesdays and Summer Seminars co-sponsored with the Madison Senior Center. Music, movies, poetry, team competition and workshops were popular family events.
