Full Day Kindergarten Approved For Madison
Madison schools saw a big bump in funding under Gov. Murphy's new plan, and are using it to increase the kindergarten day.

MADISON, NJ — Madison schools will offer full day kindergarten starting in the 2019-2020 school year.
The board unanimously voted to use the additional $277,000 in state aid to begin funding all day kindergarten. Previously, the school offered half day sessions.
"It is the belief of the school district that full-day Kindergarten is in the best interest of all students by enabling educational rigor and equity during these critical years of our students’ cognitive growth," the Board said in a statement on the school's website.

Madison superintendent Mark Schwarz thanked Gov. Phil Murphy for making this possible. Under the governor's new school funding plan, Madison saw a roughly 30 percent increase in their state aid.
"Thank you @GovMurphy and @NJSenatePres for restoring funding balance. The funds are being put to good use!" Schwarz wrote on Twitter.
