Ground Broken On New Madison Rehab Center

Atlantic Health System and Kindred Healthcare's new rehabilitation center is being built on Giralda Farms.

MADISON, NJ — Ground was broken Tuesday on Atlantic Health System and Kindred Healthcare's new in-patient rehabilitation center on Giralda Farms in Madison. The new center eventually replace rehabilitative services currently offered at the Mount Kemble facility in Morristown.

“This is truly a beautiful place and we’re making it even better by welcoming Atlantic Health System
and Kindred,” Madison Mayor Robert Conley said.

The new rehab center will have 38 beds, and treat those who lost function from an illness or injury. There will also be a transition housing section for patients to get back into the swing of daily life before moving home.

“Our focus is expanding accessibility to high-quality health care for our patients,” said Amy Perry, Senior Vice President, Integrated Care Delivery and CEO of Atlantic Health System’s Hospital Division. “The combination of Atlantic Health System and Kindred, in a modernized, convenient location puts top-caliber rehabilitation services within the communities we serve.”

Some of the features of the new center will be all-private rooms, a secured acquired brain injury unit with private dining and therapy gym, large interdisciplinary gyms, a therapeutic courtyard with golf, basketball and varied surfaces, a dialysis suite, and programs tailored to neuro, stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and amputation.

The Mount Kemble location is currently under contract to be sold, and will stop being used sometime in 2019. Although in-patient rehabilitative services will be transferred to the new Madison center, other services, such as the sleep center, behavioral health, Monsignor Corr Stroke Center, audiology, outpatient rehabilitation services and the Atlantic Medical Group physical medicine and rehabilitation physician practice, will be transferred to yet-to-be-determined new homes.
