Harmonium Choral Society Holds Auditions for New Members
Harmonium is now auditioning for new members. Contact Dr. Anne Matlack (director@harmonium.org) to schedule an appointment.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. -- Harmonium Choral Society has a limited number of openings in all voice parts for experienced singers with good sight-reading skills. Auditions for the 2014-2015 concert season will be held by appointment only on August 23 and August 30, 2014 in Madison. Please email Dr. Anne Matlack, Artistic Director, at director@harmonium.org to schedule an appointment.
Weekly rehearsals for the upcoming year begin Sunday evening, September 7, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mendham. The Harmonium concert season includes three concerts with the full chorus - held in December, March and June – and a concert featuring the select Harmonium Chamber Singers in April. The season also includes special appearances throughout the year.
This year’s December concert, “O Mystical Journey,” will be held at 8:00 p.m. December 13 and 3:00 p.m. December 14, 2014 at St. Peter’s Church in Morristown. “O Mystical Journey” features a collage of many settings of three of the Great O Antiphons and otherworldly compositions by Hallock, Pärt, Willan, Bruckner, Gretchaninoff, Chilcott, Tavener and others. The chorus will be accompanied by Kris Lamb, flute and Joshua Stafford, organ.

Our March program, “Dark Night of the Soul,” will be held at 8:00 p.m. March 7 and 3:00 p.m. March 8, 2015 at the Morristown United Methodist Church. “Dark Night of the Soul” features the mesmerizing title work by Ola Gjielo with string quartet and piano, the world premiere of the complete choral setting of Farlon Alemen by Andrea Clearfield, and works by Schűtz, Purcell, Virgil Thomson and more.
The season finale, “Apocalypse Now,” will be held at 7:30 p.m. June 6 & 7, 2015, at Grace Church in Madison and includes Randall Thomson’s Peaceable Kingdom, and works about the end times, both scary and comforting by Stanford, Takach, Takemitsu, Walker, Vaughan Williams and features the winner of the 18th annual High School Student Composition Contest.

Harmonium concert soloists are selected from the chorus’s 100-voice membership, over one-third of whom are professional musicians and/or music educators. Singers are also invited to audition for the Harmonium Chamber Singers, a 20-voice vocal ensemble selected from the full Harmonium chorus.
