IN SHORT
With Higgins' complete-game shutout stifling the Parsippany lineup, the Dodger bats took control early, putting up four runs in the first three innings. Through three games, the Madison pitching staff has allowed just one earned run.
DODGER OF THE GAME
Connor Higgins — In his first start of the season, Higgins allowed just one hit while striking out four and walking one. The junior also helped his own cause at the plate, going 1-for-1 with an RBI double in the second inning.
“I just wanted to go in and throw strikes. I let them hit the ball and I let my infield do the job. Usually I go to my fastball, but it wasn’t as on as I wanted it to be today, so I worked with a changeup and slider a lot more and it helped.”— Higgins
OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES
Alex Brownlee (Madison), 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored; Connor Allen (Madison), 1-for-3 with an RBI; Mike Wolff (Madison), 2-for-4 with an RBI.
THEY SAID IT
“We’re 3-0 now, and we’re 2-0 in the conference. That’s the good news. The bad news is, word is out on us and we can no longer sneak up on people. We’ve beaten a couple of pretty good baseball teams…we couldn’t have asked for a better start.” — Madison Head Coach Mickey Ennis
