Teacher/Coach/Minister/Poet to Sign Copies of His Collection at the Library

Gordon Drewery Jr. has Madison roots.

Gordon Drewery Jr., who was raised in Madison and now teaches at Morristown High School, will be signing copies of his new book Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Madison Public Library.

Drewery’s book, More Abundantly, is a collection of poems dealing with culture, family, politics, tributes and love.

The 44-year-old was born in Germany, where his father was stationed with the military. He grew up in Morristown and Madison and began “scribbling” even as a young boy.

On his book jacket, Drewery notes that “poetry has been a lifetime love.”

His mother, Nora Drewery of Belmont Avenue in Madison, added that his early inspirations came from one of his teachers at Kings Road School.

Now a resident of Morristown, Drewery has taught special-needs students at the elementary, middle and high school levels. He is also a football coach at Morristown High School and a basketball referee, as well as associate minister at the First Baptist Church in Madison.

The book signing will take place from 2-4 p.m. at the Madison Public Library. More Abundantly can be purchased for $15 a copy.
