Local Madison Band What's What to Open the Downtown Concert Series at the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts

Madison, NJ – On Friday, June 30th from 6-8pm the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts (METC) and the Madison Downtown Development Commission invite guests to the first concert in the Downtown Concert Series, featuring Madison-based rock n' roll band What's What.

What's What brings solid musicianship and fun vibes to up-tempo rock music from the '70s, '80s and '90s. Their spirited performance of classic songs from artists like Tom Petty, John Mellencamp, Cheap Trick and Van Halen merge seamlessly with music from the MTV video revolution. The band features Phil Duffy on vocals and guitar, Mike Shugrue on bass and vocals, Tom Doherty on lead guitar and Bill Geyer on drums. The Downtown Concert Series -- six FREE Friday evening, family-friendly concerts--is held outside on the lawn of the Museum where picnicking is encouraged! Crafts are available for children and guests are encouraged to tour METC's current exhibit, Garden State: Living Off the Land in Early New Jersey, which explores the history and technology of 18th and 19th century New Jersey farmers and their families. Bring the family and plan to spend time Friday evening in downtown Madison exploring the town's many unique shops and restaurants.

These performances are rain or shine! In case of inclement weather the concerts are held inside the Museum with first-come first-serve seating. June 30 - What's What

July 14 - FabForward
FabForward is not your typical Beatles tribute band! This talented band brings alive the solo hits of John, Paul, George, and Ringo, transporting music fans through a lively selection of the memorable hits by the former Beatles. Songs like Band on the Run, Jet, Live and Let Die, Imagine, It Don't Come Easy, and Got My Mind Set on You give fans the chance to hear the solo sounds of McCartney, Lennon, Harrison and Starr performed all in one night! FabForward was the winner of the 2016 NY Metro Area Fest for Beatle Fans Battle of the Bands contest and promises you will be dancing and singing all night long!

July 28 - Barba Roja Latin Band
This South River, New Jersey band with Venezuelan roots, has been performing for over twenty years playing a mix of Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Bachata, Rock en Espanol, Latin Pop, and Latin Jazz. Dancing shoes are a must for this exciting concert!

August 11 - Group Therapy Band
Group Therapy Band is a "rock and soul” cover band that plays feel-good and sing-a-long tunes that are fun and therapeutic! Their play-list spans decades and genres--Van Morrison, Tom Jones, Springsteen, Steppenwolf, Jimmy Buffett--no artist or group is out of reach for this successful band. Crowds at clubs, bars, colleges, and private celebrations have all agreed that...“everybody needs a little Group Therapy!”

August 25 - Hatchet Jack
Hatchet Jack is back, with rock and blues from the likes of the Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Warren Zevon and The Band.

September 8 - Reeds, Rhythm and All that Brass
Reeds, Rhythm and All That Brass is an 18-piece jazz/swing ensemble, playing the classic big-band repertoire of Basie, Ellington, and Miller through Sinatra, Bobby Darin, and Dinah Washington. RRB, under the direction of former New Jersey Jazz Society President Dr. Lou Iozzi, is a charitable enterprise whose members donate their time and talents. The band has helped raise millions of dollars for worthy causes.

The Museum of Early Trades & Crafts

Explore American history with a focus on the life and stories of 18th- and 19th- century craftsmen and artisans. Drawing on its rich collection, METC is connecting the lives of people and their stories, while providing a bridge from the past to the future. Housed in a stunning Richardsonian Romanesque Revival building donated by D. Willis James to the people of Madison, NJ in 1900, METC offers something for visitors of all ages. Regular METC admission is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors, students & children 6 and older, and free for members and children under 6. Family maximum admission $15.00. METC SUMMER HOURS - July & August: Tuesday-Saturday 10 A.M. to 4 P.M.. Closed Sunday & Monday.
