Madison Approves Dog Park. Now They Need To Pay For It
Donations are being sought to make the five-year effort a reality.
MADISON, NJ - Those dog owners looking for a place to play with their pooch are one step closer to seeing it become reality as the governing body has approved the creation of a dog park in town.
Now they just need to pay for it.
To that end, the Madison Dog Park Committee has set up a GoFundMe page in order move to the next phase.

"Madison is on the verge of its own Dog Park It has been a 5-year effort and unanimous approval was received by the Town Council on Jan. 14, 2019," the Committee posted on the fundraiser website. "The Madison Dog Park Committee is seeking to raise $5,000 to meet the Open Space requirements and are asking for our communities help."
According to the committee, the estimated cost of the installation is $18,500 excluding any benches or additional items. The committee said that behind the skating rink/field at Memorial Park is an underutilized picnic area that has been identified as the ideal location - the site is already cleared, there are mature shade trees and it is relatively level ground.

"There are walking trails with existing dog activity, there is a water line already there and Memorial Park has a great parking lot for easy access," they noted. "his area is in a designated buffer zone to the adjacent wetlands. The appropriate measures have been taken to be in compliance with the regulations and a Dog Park is an ideal use for the area since it's installation involves minimal disruption to the area."
On the fundraiser page there was support expressed for the idea that went beyond donations.
"I worked on getting a dog park when I was on the Randolph Township Council," Ann Huber wrote. "It turned out to be a great addition to the community. I would like to see one here."
Others praised the effort to make the dream a reality.
"My cousin has been working hard on this for years," Christy McElynn said. "Let's help make it happen."
