Madison Basketball Association Makes Improvements to Local Courts

More than 600 locals of all ages participate in the year round programs offered by the MBA, which is offering skill nights this fall.

Four years ago the Madison Basketball Association was formed, its goal to develop the budding skills of a handful of local participants. Today, it has grown to more than 600 strong of all ages and sizes and is proudly hosting its new sizzling summer league.

The MBA is open to kids from first to eighth grades, and the summer session concentrates mainly on four evenly matched groups that play every Wednesday evening at the courts at Dodge Field. You may have done a double take if you’ve gone by there recently, since they have undergone a noticeable improvement of new backboards and rims. These changes became possible through the valiant fundraising efforts of the MBA and by a donation from Home Court Hoops, so come by and check it out.

The Madison Basketball Association is busy readying for the fall schedule, bringing in many well qualified Coaches and instructors to teach the many skills and techniques to the players. Of these is renowned Hall of Fame Coach Bob Hurley of St. Anthonys’ in Jersey City, who amassed over one thousand victories in his career. These valuable lessons have already proven beneficial, creating a more competitive level of play in the program. In fact, the MBAs’ first group to go through the entire program is currently the Freshman class at Madison High School and is already showing signs of a promising season.
