Madison Bats Power Comeback Over Clark in Chatham Invitational
Five-run sixth inning seals victory.
CHATHAM — When everything looked down the bats came alive, giving Madison's team of 10-year-olds a hard-fought 12-9 victory over Clark at Nash Field Saturday night in the opening round of the 21st Annual Chatham Invitational Tournament. Madison cruised to the comeback victory behind a five-run sixth inning.
Key Performers: (Madison) Anthony Mazzella had a huge day as he contributed two doubles and four RBIs, and scored two runs. Gabe Schlicksup added three hits and three runs scored, and played a key role in Madison’s sixth-inning rally. Peter Samori used his speed to collect three hits, including an infield single and a bunt single to lead off the sixth-inning rally.

For Clark, Andrew Kehrle had two hits and scored two runs. Joseph Concina added two hits and two runs scored.
Key Moments: The biggest moment of the game was Madison’s sixth inning. Heading into the frame, Madison was behind by two runs and down to its final three outs before exploding for five runs to take a 12-9 lead. Samori led off with a bunt single and was moved over to second on Schlicksup’s single. Madison then loaded the bases and the big hit came from Andy Christos, who doubled in two runs to give Madison a 10-9 lead. Patrick Murphy then capped the rally, singling in two runs to give Madison the deciding 12-9 lead.
