IN SHORT
Two days after earning their fourth win of the season — a 7-3 win over Piscataway — Madison dropped a 9-0 decision to a talented Pequannock squad ranked No. 3 in the state by the Star-Ledger. Madison struggled to get anything going offensively as Pequannock starting pitcher Gina Martucci threw a complete-game two-hitter, striking out nine and walking only two. While the Dodger offense was nowhere to be found, defensively the team played as well as they have all year, another sign that this team is making strides.

DODGER OF THE GAME

Mackie Goodwin—On a tough day at the plate for the Dodgers, Goodwin went 1-for-2, reaching base safely in the third inning with a single.

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES
Kelly Quinn (Madison), recorded one of the Dodgers two hits, a single in the fifth inning; Nikki Caruso (Madison), reached base safely twice on two walks; Gina Martucci (Pequannock), went the distance while allowing only two hits, striking out nine and walking two.

THEY SAID IT
"Pequannock is an excellent program, but I was really pleased with how we played defensively. It was one of the goals that we had set coming in, and were happy with that. We can go around the field and just about every girl made an outstanding play, so that’s what we’re going to take with us and hopefully we’ll start a winning streak tomorrow.” —Head coach Dale Garlick

Up Next—Parsippany on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Madison High School.
