Madison Boy Freed From Bicycle By Jaws Of Life

Four-year-old uninjured, but his bike was a casualty of the rescue.

MADISON, NJ - First responders were unable to save the bike, but they were able to extricate a four-year-old Madison resident when his leg got stuck in his bike on Wednesday.

According to officials Madison Fire, Ambulance and Police responded to a report of a child’s leg stuck in a bike.

After exhausting all efforts to remove his leg without compromising the bike failed the Jaws of Life, a hydraulic apparatus used to pry apart the wreckage of crashed vehicles in order to free people trapped inside, were used.

First responders were able to gently bend the frame of the bike and free his leg, which proved to be uninjured.

Because the bike was damaged in the rescue, members of the Madison Fire Department FMBA local #74 purchased a new red bike and helmet for four-year-old Sebastian.
