Madison Boys Have Surprise 2nd-Place Finish in 1,600 Relay at Dodgertown Relays
Dodgers place ninth overall.
More than a dozen teams competed Saturday in the annual Dodgertown Relays—won by Summit High School in the boys division, while Livingston captured the girls title.
Madison's boys team finished ninth and medaled in six events, while the girls finished last and were unable to medal. However, Mark LaDolcetta, one of the girls coaches, was pleased with his team's effort and also with how smoothly the day ran as a whole.
"The meet is going great, we've got good weather so that's a first in a couple of years," he said. "We're happy with that. So far everything has gone well."

One of highlight of the boys' day was their second-place finish in the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay. Junior Jack Mahoney finished the first leg of the race, then sprinted from sideline to sideline on the football field inside the track in order to cheer his team on.
Afterward, as the Dodgers took part in a photo finish, he rallied his three partners together in celebration. The 1,600 relay team was slotted to finish ninth and featured Mahoney, another junior in Vincent Bennett, and sophomores Nick Haboj and Nicholas Foulke. As they caught their breath, the ringleader, Mahoney, gushed about the team's performance.

"We're not quite sure yet, but we definitely medaled," Mahoney said. "This is really big for us because we're a pretty young team. We were seeded ninth and we really came up big. We're all proud."
