MADISON, NJ - Sunday was the start of the 45th annual EMS Week, which celebrates and recognizes EMS personnel and the work they do for their communities nationwide.

This year, the the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), in partnership
with the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT), had named this year's EMS STRONG campaign theme: BEYOND THE CALL.

The annual EMS STRONG campaign provides opportunities to recognize the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) community, enhance and strengthen the profession on a national level and expand and celebrate National EMS Week.

“Emergency Medical Service professionals are dedicated to delivering superb medical care,” said President of ACEP Vidor Friedman. " During EMS week, and throughout the year, we are proud to recognize EMA and fire professionals who fearlessly and tirelessly serve their communities and help patients and their families everyday."

The Township of Madison took to social media and asked that residents take a moment to acknowledge the work that EMS workers do.

"Please pay tribute to our Nation’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers, especially the volunteer members of the Madison Ambulance Corps whose selfless dedication and extraordinary efforts help save countless lives everyday," officials said. "Day, night, weekends and holidays, they stand at the ready to help out people in our community."

Indeed, the Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps provides free medical service to Madison’s citizens and visitors. The Corps' annual budget, the majority of which is from donations and fundraising, is used to cover the cost of operating our building, maintenance and upkeep of their three ambulances, and medical supplies.
