Madison Doubles Down On Waste Collection
Through Sept. 14 residents can put out garbage twice a week.
MADISON, NJ - Madison resident have double the opportunity to take out the trash as a twice weekly pickup schedule will be in place until Sept. 14, according to officials.
Despite the fact that there will be enhanced pickup, there are still a few rules residents need note:
- Paper or commingled recycling that is placed at the curb in plastic bags will no longer be collected by the Borough contractor.
- Acceptable containers are plastic bins, which cannot exceed 40 pounds and are clearly labeled for the respective recycling, commingled recycling or paper recycling.
- Stickers are available for pickup at the Department of Public Works on John Avenue or the Clerk’s Office at Hartley Dodge Memorial.
- The hauler will not pick up recyclables in plastic bags. The plastic bags and its contents will be left at the curb.
- Each container cannot exceed 40 pounds
- No construction material, grass, leaves, medical waste or recyclables.
- No garbage can be put in corrugated cardboard boxes. Corrugated must be recycled.
Officials note that all items must be placed at the curb the night before, but no earlier than 7 p.m. All containers must be removed from curbside prior to 7 p.m. on your collection day. If garbage or recyclables are not put out properly, they will not be collected.
