Madison Firefighters Practice Confined Space Rescue

The annual training simulated a sewer rescue.

MADISON, NJ - A fake public works employee faced faux hazardous conditions as very real firefighters from Madison rendered aid as part of last week's annual confined space training.

The Madison Fire Department simulated the rescue of a public works employee who was found to be unconscious in a sewer after completing repairs, and at the time of the call, it was unsure if he was conscious and/or injured.

These trainings are required to be completed by the Fire Department annually. This year's simulation required firefighters to use rope rescue techniques, supplied air breathing apparatus, air monitoring and teamwork to retrieve the unconscious worker from the below grade manhole.
