Madison's State Football Supremacy Ends

Dodgers' streak of three straight state titles ends as two-point conversion attempt fails in final minutes.

The three-time defending state sectional champion Madison High football team suffered a 28-26 setback to Lincoln Saturday in the first round of the North Jersey Section 2, Group 2 playoffs.

It also marked the first time a Jersey City public school won a home state playoff game in the 40-year history of the tournament, according to NJ.com.

Madison (6-3) pulled to within two points on Noah Gertler's 61-yard touchdown run with 1:46 remaining, but the Dodgers' two-point conversion attempted failed, according to NJ.com.

The Dodgers had one last chance after recovering the on-sides kick, but Lincoln forced a fumble to thwart the drive, NJ.com reported.
