Madison to Host U.S. Marine Corps Event Celebrating America's 250th Anniversary

MADISON, NJ — The Borough of Madison will welcome residents and visitors to a special United States Marine Corps event on Thursday, July 2.

The event will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The celebration will be held at Madison High School, 170 Ridgedale Ave., beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The program will feature remarks from community leaders, including a U.S. Marine Corps officer and Morris County Commissioner and Marine Corps veteran John Krickus.

Attendees will also enjoy performances by the renowned United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon and the 2nd Marine Division Band.

At 11 a.m., a CH-53K King Stallion and V-22 Osprey are expected to arrive, giving visitors the opportunity to view and photograph the aircraft.

The aircraft will remain on display until about 2 p.m., when the event concludes.

"This event provides a rare opportunity for our community to experience the professionalism, tradition, and service of the United States Marine Corps while recognizing the 250th anniversary of our nation," Mayor Robert H. Conley said.

"We are honored to welcome these Marines to Madison and invite residents of all ages to join us for this memorable occasion and an early Independence Day celebration as we prepare to mark 250 years of our nation's history, service, and enduring spirit."

The event is free and open to the public and offers a unique opportunity to celebrate the nation's milestone anniversary while experiencing the traditions and capabilities of the United States Marine Corps.

Parking will be available at the Madison High School main parking lot, with overflow parking available at the Madison Recreation Complex. Street parking will also be available where permitted. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and allow additional time for parking and walking to the event site.
