Madison Hydrant Flushing May Discolor Water

Officials say the impact is only temporary.

MADISON, NJ - Rust-colored water this October is not an early Halloween trick, but rather the Madison Water Department’s annual fire hydrant and water main flushing program.

According to officials, the borough is scheduled to begin work on Monday, and it is estimated to continue for about six weeks.

During this period residents may experience a temporary loss of pressure and slight discoloration for a short period of time, officials noted.
