Madisons’ Varsity Rec Dodgers could see the well lit glow as they approached Jeffersons field for the late game on Saturday evening. The Falcons must’ve been trying to conserve energy since the only warmup field for the Dodgers was in total darkness, but Madison put on a dazzling display minutes later and fried the Falcons 37-6.
The opening kickoff was returned over 70 yards by Anthony Contessa for the first strike. Contessa had two more scores in the first half, one going 95 yards from a screen pass from QB Ryan O’Rourke and the other a swift run right up the middle for a 24-0 lead at halftime. The Dodger defense caged the falcons with tremendous tackling by Joaquin Izzo, Jayson Candelario, Tim Anderson and Aniello vacchiano. Cade LaFerriere, Scotty Spelker, Skyler Pastro, Elliot Dressler and Mayson Messuti backed up the line in the secondary.
The second half was once again jump started by Madison with a stunning run by Dante Izzo from the 20 for a TD, and the Dodgers were up 30-0. Jeffersons’ only score of the night came late in the game from a 15 yard pass to their receiver, but Madison wasn’t finished. The Dodgers last TD, a 30 yard run by Candelario, was spot lighted by a point after conversion rumble by lineman Aniello Vacchiano to cap a 37-6 victory. The 3-1 Dodgers return home for their next game vs Roxbury on Oct. 6th…we’ll leave the lights on for them.
