Madison Students Winners in Playwright Contest

Playwrights Theatre to produce plays penned by St. Vincent fourth graders.

Plays penned by two students from Madison’s were among the winners in the 28th Annual New Jersey Young Playwrights Contest sponsored by of Madison.

In the Elementary School Division, Finn Gannon, a fourth-grade student, won for his play, There’s Nothing to Do! Elizabeth Kilgore, also in fourth grade, won for her play, The Easy World.

A total of 331 plays submitted by young writers throughout the state were judged by a panel of theater professionals, who chose winners in the High School, Junior High School and Elementary Schools divisions.

The winners’ plays will be presented at the University Center's Little Theatre at Kean University on May 23 at 10 a.m. for the Elementary and Junior High Division winners and on May 24 at 10 a.m. for the High School Division. winners’ plays. The readings will feature professional actors and directors and reservations can be made by calling Jim DeVivo at 973-514-1787 x-14 or via email njypf@ptnj.org. Admission to the readings is free, but reservations are required, as seating is limited.
