Madison Swears In 160th Officer (Photos)
Brett Smith is a former marine who served on the United States Border Patrol.
MADISON, NJ - Brett Smith was sworn in as Madison's 160th police officer since 1890 during Monday's meeting of the Mayor and Council.
According to officials, Smith is former United States Marine Corp. member, s honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant in 2015. During his service, he provided security for embassies in South-East Asia and was a Ground Sensor Operator and assisted with narcotics trafficking with the United States Border Patrol, officials said.
After his service, Smith attended Morris County Community College and did a short stint as a Corrections Officer with the Morris County Sheriff’s Office after graduating from the Morris County Police Academy.
