IN SHORT
Defense was the name of the game for Madison. The unit recorded seven quarterback sacks and was stingy all game en route to the team's second shutout of the season.
“Our defense got a lot of pressure on them, that was really our goal. I thought we played well against some other teams too, but I'm sure statistically that one was," Madison coach Chris Kubik when asked if the game was the best defensive performace of the season.
DODGER OF THE GAME
The defense. The Rangers got a pass interference call on an incompletion, which moved the ball eight yards for a first down. That play would serve as the biggest gain for the Rangers for the majority of the first half and was their third longest play of the day; it was also one of the only two first downs the home team had all game. The Dodger defense also forced six three-and-outs.
TOP DODGER OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCES
PASSING: Carson Lassiter (2-of-4 for 56 yards, one touchdown) RUSHING: Justin Goodwin (eight carries for 97 yards, two touchdowns), Layton Lassiter (seven carries for 42 yards, two scores) RECEIVING: Ben Andersen (one catch, a 25-yard TD catch), Justin Goodwin (one 31-yard grab)
TOP DODGER DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCES
TACKLING: Shone Register, Will Mottola, Michael Finelli, Ben Andersen, Collin Scarpello, Curtis Hubbard and Matt Fastiggi had one QB sack apiece.
Register, however, did not play the entire second half of the game.
“He's dinged up," Kubik said. "We're going to find out exactly what's wrong with him; he's had some shoulder issues in the past. I'm going to talk to the trainer and we'll see what we can do to get him ready to go."
Register and the rest of the Dodgers now await their playoff opponent, which will be announced on Monday.
"I'm going to assume we're playing Saturday at our place, that's still to be determined," Kubik said. "We have an idea but until the games are over [we won't know.] There's a couple games on Sunday that also have playoff ramifications. We'll see what we get on Monday when they make the announcement."
