Madison YMCA Mariners Excel at Holiday Mini Meet

Mariners succeed at the "Candy Cane" meet!

The Madison YMCA Mariners Swim Team kicked off the Holiday Season with 32 swimmers aged 7-10 competing in the Holiday Mini Meet in Red Bank, NJ. They joined 8 other teams and swam for Candy Canes in 17 events!

The Girls started the morning session and had many impressive finishes. Alexandra Soltis (7) dominated her races finishing 2nd Place in the 25 Free, 25 Breast and 25 Fly.

The Mariner’s had a notable number of 8-year-old girls with Top 20 Finishes. Leading the pack was Julia Jadro placing 2nd in 25 Fly, 4th in 25 Back and 6th in 50 Free followed by Emily Garlewicz who finished 4th in 25 Free, 6th in 25 Fly and 13th in 25 Back. Next up was Mia Snider placing 7th in 25 Free, 10th in 25 Fly & 15th in 25 Breast, Alessandra Ledon 9th in 25 Breast & 14th in 25 Free, Sienna Prael 10th in 25 Breast & 19th in 25 Fly followed by Addison Burdorf placing 16th in 25 Free & 19th in 25 Breast.

Josie Speace (9) placed 15th in 50 Back and Samantha Soltis (10) finished strong with 14th in 50 Fly, 16th in 100 Free and 19th in the 100 IM.

The Boys followed in the afternoon session and did not disappoint! William Dyer (7) kicked off the session with a 1st Place in the 25 Back.

The 8-year-old boys were led by Carter Smith winning 1st in 25 Breast, 3rd in 25 Fly and 5th in 50 Free. Owen Chow followed with 3rd in 25 Back & 15th in 50 Free and Mason Porter finished 10th in the 25 Free.

Charging the way for the 10-year old boys was Sean Clark with impressive finishes of 1st in 50 Back, 4th in 100 IM and 5th in 50 Fly. Next up was Trevor Ledon with 7th in 50 Breast, 9th in 50 Back, 18th in 100 IM followed by Charles Hilgendorff placing 8th in 50 Breast, 19th in 100 IM and 20th in 50 Fly. Brett Davis rounded out the boys’ success with 14th in 50 Free & 18th in 50 Fly.

The Mariners who also had impressive finishes in Red Bank, including many personal best times, were: Dhara Ashar, Emma Carduso, Keira Clarke, Delaney Conover, Emilie Feldstein, Sophia Huang, Tainosuke Ikeda, Caitlyn Kolster, Luke Matusheski, Jules McGrath, Victoria Reilly, Anya Rodrigo, Aanya Sood, Matthew Troiano and Samuel Zhang.
