Madison, NJ (November 2, 2017) – Laura Schenone, an award winning author of three acclaimed nonfiction books, will be discussing her new book, The Dogs of Avalon: The Race to Save Animals in Peril at Short Stories Bookshop and Community Hub, 23 Main Street, Madison on Saturday, November 18th at 2pm. Accompanying Schenone will be Lily, the special dog who inspired Laura's book. The presentation is free and open to the public.

“The Dogs of Avalon is part memoir about my adoption and life with Lily as well as the history of greyhounds and the animal adoption movement,” states Schenone. “Through my adoption I had the opportunity to meet animal rescuer Marion Fitzgibbon and her international network of animal protectors.” Greyhounds are greatly misunderstood and have been mass produced and exported by a government-backed industry. Thousands seem to disappear after injury or peak racing years. The Dogs of Avalon follows Fitzgibbon’s quest across Europe and to the U.S. where she finds assistance from people determined to change the perception of greyhounds and to support a worldwide movement to change the way we understand and care for all the animals on our planet.
