MCH Nursery School Children Travel the Town

The 3’s and 4’s class of the Madison Community House’s own Nursery School recently took a trip to the Madison Fire Department as the children were learning about Fire Safety Month. Firefighters Dunne and Boylan explained how the different trucks and engines worked and how they are used. Some of the equipment such as the thermal imaging camera, Halligan bar and Jaws of Life were also illustrated and discussed. Firefighter Boylan showed the curious children how he gets ready with his turn out gear and what to expect a firefighter to look like. The highlight of the visit was watching Firefighter Dunne slide down the pole!

Throughout the month the children worked on a fire safety plan to have at home, learned to stop, drop and roll, conducted a school fire drill and discussed how the fire station helps the community.
