McLinden Leading Late-Season Lacrosse Charge

Senior midfielder steps up his game for playoffs.

As the boys lacrosse team prepared to host Robbinsville Tuesday in the opening round of the NJSIAA state sectional playoffs, senior middie Colin McLinden & Co. have stepped their game up to another level, recording wins over Mount Olive and Seton Hall Prep, both lacrosse powers.

McLinden, who has 39 goals and 42 assists this season, recorded eight goals, six assists and 14 ground balls in the Dodgers’ two most recent wins.

In the 12-5 win over Mount Olive (15-3) on May 17, McLinden, who will play for Fairfield University next year, led the Dodgers in all three statistical categories as he netted four goals to go along with three assists and eight ground balls, leading Madison to its eighth win of the season.

Four days later against Seton Hall Prep, ranked No. 12 in the state by the Star-Ledger, the Dodger standout again dominated the competition as he rattled off team highs in goals (4), assists (3) and groundballs (6) for the second consecutive game.

“Colin is a very good player with excellent field vision,” Madison head coach Mark Sweeney said. “He has one of the quickest first steps I have seen in a long time and his versatility gives us the ability to play him at middie and attack, as well as use him for faces-offs.”
