MHS JV Boys' Soccer Loses Only Game in a Snowy Mud Match in Dover on Saturday

Season ends 11-1-2 for MHS JV Boys Soccer

As one grandparent said, it was lucky no one got hurt, although one player sat out for five minutes after a head collision and there were complaints of pulled muscles and frozen fingers.

“It wasn’t really a game,” said JV Coach T.J. Mack, whose JV boys’ soccer team went into Saturday's match against Dover undefeated only to lose this last match 2-1.

It was more of an effort to keep “one’s footing,” said onlooker Mireille Bessin, whose grandson Daniel Iskandar is on the team.

The game, originally scheduled to be played Thursday, was rescheduled because of heavy rain. The JV squad got kicked off the turf at Dover, winding up on a soggy grass field. The match turned into a mudbath as the team returned home with the evidence on their gear.

“I’m really proud of this team,” said Mack, who plays for Montclair State where he is a senior. The team wound up the year with a record of 11 wins, 1 loss and 2 ties.

The team parents and fans are encouraged today to add their photos online, to celebrate an almost perfect season.
