Mindfulness Classes for Kids at Community House

Classes in Mindfulness for Kids in Grades K - 6 Start Soon at the Madison Community House

The Madison Community House is now offering Mindfulness Classes for children and youth in Grade K – 6, starting September 12. Mindfulness is a kind of brain training that is used in schools, Fortune 500 companies and the US military to help youth and adults strengthen attention, regulate emotions and decrease levels of stress and anxiety.

Mary Lea Crawley, a Certified Mindfulness Instructor, will be teaching a class for Kindergartners and a combined First/Second Grade class on Saturday mornings, which start on September 12. A combined class for Third/Fourth Graders and one for Fifth/Sixth Graders will be held on Sunday evenings and begin on Sunday, September 27. All classes run for 8 weeks and are $175/student.

In each class session, students will learn a new technique for strengthening their self-awareness and attention skills and practice periods of silence. Each class includes games, movement and journaling.
