MJS May Day Beautification
MJS Green Team and Student Council Participate in May Day Activities

On Saturday, May 5, 2018, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students from Madison Junior School participated in May Day activities at the school. May Day is a beautification day that is completed all over Madison where volunteers clean, mulch and enhance the public spaces of the town. This year, there was 45 students present from the MJS Green Team and Student Council, along with Principal Dr. Caruso, Green Team advisors Miss Donnelly and Miss Nering and Student Council Advisors Mr. Finkelstein and Mrs. Siso, who helped to beautify the school grounds by mulching and completing a litter clean up. The Green Team focused on the litter cleanup aspect of the day to support a “green” initiative through the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MCMUA). MCMUA has coordinated a statewide initiative to help implement a change in the thinking of litterbugs and create a new and positive mindset toward keeping the planet clean. They have developed a grant program for public schools which helps to purchase receptacles for trash and recyclables to further this cause. To this end, the MJS students worked hard and did a great job helping make the school grounds look beautiful and keep their community clean!
