 IN SHORT
The final score isn’t a fair description of what kind of game this really was, as Madison was competitive throughout. Dodger catcher Mike Wulff led off the game with a solo home run, and Madison headed into the bottom of the fifth inning hanging with undefeated Montville, 5-4. The tight contest came unraveled in the bottom half of the fifth, though, as fielding miscues led to a four-run inning for Montville, and the eventual 10-4 loss.

DODGER OF THE GAME
Connor Higgins —
Higgins went 2-for-3, with two RBIs and one stolen base.

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES

Mike Wulff (Madison), 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk; Alex Brownlee (Madison), 1-for-3 with a solo home run and one stolen base; Dilan Kludge (Madison), two walks, two stolen bases and two runs scored; Matt Kelly (Montville), 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored.

THEY SAID IT
“They’ve got three [college] Division I baseball players on this team, this week they’ll probably be ranked in the top five in the state of New Jersey, we knew we could swing the bats. We heard that they would put pressure on you defensively, and they did. Everyone talks about how they swing the bats, but the impressive thing about them is how they run the bases and their aggressiveness on the bases, and that’s really what separated the game today.” — Head Coach Mickey Ennis
