More School Security Officers To Be Hired In Madison

MADISON, NJ — The Borough of Madison is currently accepting applications for the position of Special Law Enforcement Officer Class III (SLEO Class III) to perform safety and security duties at the Borough of Madison Public Schools during the 2022-2023 school year.

According to Madison officials, the position contract is renewed on an annual basis.

To be eligible for the position, the candidate must be a retired law enforcement officer under the age of 65 who will still be under the age of 65 upon reappointment. Candidates must have served as a duly qualified, fully trained, full-time officer in any municipality or county in this State, or as a member of the New Jersey State Police, and must have been separated from that prior service in good standing within three years of appointment to this position.

All applicants must be physically capable of performing the functions of the position as defined by the Police Training Academy and must have a NJ Police Training Commission Basic Police Officer Certification or NJ State Police Academy Certification.

The candidate must be a New Jersey resident with a valid driver's license.

Applicants must pass a background investigation, which includes a medical exam, drug test and psychological examination.

This position follows the school calendar year and offers no health, dental, or prescription benefits. The starting salary is $33 per hour and all employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and able to provide proof of vaccination.
