Museum of Early Trades & Crafts opening new exhibit in January 2017
On Saturday, December 31, 2016, the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts (METC) will close its current exhibit, "Good Earth: Pottery and Terra Cotta Industries in New Jersey." There is still time to visit this exhibit which follows the world-famous New Jersey clay industry from the earthenware jugs of the colonial kitchen to the terra cotta masterpieces that shaped American skylines in the late 19th century. Over the next several weeks, we will install our new exhibit "Garden State: Living Off the Land in Early New Jersey" which will open for public viewing on Tuesday, January 17. This exhibit explores the history and technology of 18th and 19th century New Jersey farmers and their connection to modern New Jersey farmers. While we are installing this new exhibition, METC will be closed to the public from Sunday, January 1 through Monday, January 16.
On Saturday, January 21 at 7 p.m., METC will host "Murder at the Museum," a spirited evening of suspense and sleuthing! This is an interactive mystery event where the audience becomes a part of the action. Guests can see if they are keen detectives who can follow hidden clues throughout the museum and figure out the murderer from an unusual cast of suspects. At the end of the evening, the murderer will be revealed and awards given to the super sleuths who solved the crime! Tickets are $60 per person/$50 for METC members. Wine and light refreshments will be provided. Registration is required due to limited space. Guests can RSVP at www.metc.org or call 973-377-2982.
