Pair Of Possession Arrests In Madison: Police

An Irvington man and a resident of Bristol, Conn., were charged.

MADISON, NJ - A pair of possession arrests on the same day punctuated the end of September, according to the Madison Police Department.

  • Sgt. Sean Plumstead arrested Shamar J. Graham, 21, of Irvington and charged him with possession on Sept. 23, police said. Plumstead stopped Graham’s vehicle on Madison Avenue for an equipment violation and after speaking to Graham, Plumstead detected an odor of raw marijuana emanating from the vehicle, police said. After an investigation, Graham was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and various drug paraphernalia and was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. Both charges are classified as disorderly person’s offenses, police said. Graham was also issued a motor vehicle summons for maintenance of lamps and later released pending a court appearance in Madison Municipal Court, police said.
  • Brian Rackliffe, 20, of Bristol, Conn. was also arrested and charged with possession on Sept. 23, police said. Sgt. Craig Perrelli stopped a vehicle on Madison Avenue that Rackliffe was a passenger in and upon speaking with Rackliffe, Sgt. Perrelli observed signs of drug use inside of the vehicle in plain view, police said. Following an investigation, a small quantity of suspected marijuana was located in Rackliffe’s possession, along with various drug paraphernalia, police said. Rackliffe was arrested on scene and charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. Both charges are classified as disorderly person’s offenses, police said. He was later released pending a court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.
