UPDATE: Police Arrest Two in String of Burglaries and Thefts

The following arrest information was supplied by the Madison Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

Madison police today arrested two men suspected in a string of burglaries and thefts in the borough and surrounding communities.

Det. John Miscia arrested and charged Terrence P. Lynch, 54, of Phillpsburg, and Keith L. Dozier, 50, of Irvington, with four counts of burglary, theft, and criminal attempt in connection with incidents that occurred overnight July 15 into the next morning.

Miscia told Patch that the incidents occurred on Madison Avenue and Main Street, and two on Kings Road. They involved burglaries of commercial vehicles and commercial supply yards. No residences were involved.

Miscia said Madison police detectives had been working together with police departments in Springfield, Summit, Maplewood and Harding Twp.,where the alleged incidents had taken place. On July 20, both suspects were stopped by the Springfield Police Department, Miscia said, following a state-wide broadcast to law enforcement agencies. Madison detectives traveled to Springfield to interview the suspects, at which time one suspect admitted both were involved in the Madison incidents, according to Miscia.

The burglaries and thefts of landscape and construction equipment totaled approximately $15,000. Madison Det. Lt. Jerry Mantone assisted in the investigation.

Lynch and Dozier are being held in the Essex County Jail in lieu of $50,000 full bail, and are suspects in connection with burglaries and theft in multiple jurisdictions.
