Police: 21-Year-Old Bites Another Man's Ear

Barnegat man faces aggravated assault, criminal restraint charges.

A Barnegat man was charged with aggravated assault and criminal restraint on the evening of Oct. 24, according to a report from the Madison Police Department.

Det. John Miscia was informed by Drew Public Safety Officers that Paul Phillips, 21, had allegedly assaulted a male victim by biting his left ear and causing an injury.

After an investigation by Det. Miscia, Phillips turned himself into Madison Police Headquarters. He was processed and released on $5,000 bail, pending a mandatory court appearance. Patrolman Craig Perrelli assisted with the arrest.

During the last week, the Madison Police Department investigated 15 motor vehicles crashes.

In addition, the police and fire departments and volunteer ambulance corps responded to approximately 20 medical emergencies.
