'Real Housewives' Tenant Can Stay in Montville Mansion Until Trial

Superior Court judge rules matter deserves open court proceedings.

Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction.

That’s what seems to be going on with Bravo Network’s “Real Housewives of New Jersey” stars Melissa and Giuseppe Gorga, who filed to evict their lease-to-own tenant from their Montville mansion in June.

But Superior Court Judge Stephen Taylor reversed a previous ruling Tuesday to possible evict the tenant – Kai Patterson – citing the need for an open court trial, according to nj.com.

Taylor said the issue should have gone that route from the start, but because Giuseppe Gorga initially filed the issue without an attorney, an oversight was made, the report said.

Patterson signed a lease-to-own option in August 2013 on the $3.8 million home and agreed to pay $20,000 monthly. The Gorgas filed for eviction in June after Patterson did not pay rent for three straight months.

The Gorga’s attorney contends Patterson owes the TV stars some $165,000, the report said.

The trial is now set for Aug. 15 at 9 a.m.
