MADISON, NJ - On Tuesday residents throughout Madison locked their doors, turned on their outside lights, and spend the evening with neighbors, the Madison Police Department, the Mayor and Council and as well as other borough departments -including the Morris County Sheriffs Office, Fire Department, EMS, Public Works and Electric Utility Department as part of National Night Out.

National Night Out, a year long community building campaign, is designed to:
- heighten crime prevention awareness
- generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs
- strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
- send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
