Six Candidates File for Board of Education Seats

A total of six candidates filed applications to run for three available seats on the Board of Education.

Elections are scheduled for Wednesday, April 27. Each seat is for a three-year term.

Interested candidates were required to file applications at the office by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The candidates are incumbents David Arthur and Shade Grahling, joined by Brenda Catalanello, , Carmen Pico, and .

Catalanello is the wife of borough council member Robert Catalanello. Pico often attends and offers comments at council meetings.

Incumbent Linda Gilbert did not file an application to run for another term.

The panel has a total of eight members. The others are: President Lisa Ellis, whose term expires in 2012; Vice-President Patrick Rowe, whose term expires in 2013; James Novotny, president of the Harding Board of Education who is appointed annually; Kevin Blair, whose term expires in 2012, and Sam Cavaliere, whose term expires in 2013.
