Speeding Leads To Drug Arrest: Madison Police
Luis U. Cortez was arrested after a traffic stop, according to authorities.
MADISON, NJ - A 22-year-old Newark man was arrested and charged with possession after a traffic stop on Feb. 8, according to police.
According to authorities, Patrolman Ryan Dunn stopped Luis U. Cortez's vehicle on Main Street for speeding. Upon speaking with Cortez, Dunn observed signs of drug use inside of the vehicle, police said. After a further investigation, Cortez was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police said.
He was placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, and obstructing the administration of law, police said. He was later released pending a court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.
