Under Governor Murphy’s leadership, New Jersey has established itself as a national leader in fighting gun violence by enacting life-saving, common sense gun safety laws.
However, as we saw in the recent shooting in Michigan, there’s still much more work to be done to truly tackle the gun violence epidemic, which has only worsened since the start of the COVID pandemic.
On the heels of his re-election, Murphy unveiled his 3.0 Gun Safety Bill Package.

“By taking these steps, we will further commit to making every block and every street safer,” said Murphy.
Key components of this crucial legislation include requiring completion of a firearm safety course to receive a permit to purchase, mandating safe storage of firearms, and requiring new NJ residents to register their firearms so that other states’ lax laws don’t turn into tragedies for us.

Murphy’s 3.0 gun safety package also includes microstamping ammunition, which would link casings from crime scenes to a specific purchaser so that communal crime guns are no longer a method for criminals to circumvent identification.
It is crucial for our elected officials to support the Governor’s 3.0 Gun Safety Bill Package so that NJ continues leading the way to a future free from gun violence.
We don’t have to live like this. And we certainly don’t have to die like this.
Please contact your legislators and urge them to support Governor Murphy’s 3.0 Gun Safety Bill Package.
