1.45-mile stretch in Randolph Township will cause delays, create detours for five business days.

As part of its continuing effort to pave 33 miles of roadway this year, the Morris County Freeholders announced Tuesday that a 1.45-mile stretch of Sussex Turnpike will get a facelift this week, but in turn will ultimately create some traffic issues.

Resurfacing on the county roadway between Dover-Chester Road and Calais Road in Randolph Township will begin Thursday, Aug. 21 and is expected to last until Tuesday, Aug. 26. Striping of the newly paved roadway is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Work will begin at 7 a.m. each morning. The road will be kept open to eastbound traffic during the construction, but detours established for those heading west. All detours and traffic issues are being handled by the Randolph Police Department.
