The Torey J. Sabatini Elementary School PTO will be presenting “Jokes & Notes,” an adult social, on Feb. 11 from 7-11 p.m. at , Madison. In addition to a comedy set, live music, hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and silent auction will be featured.
Kate Hendricks, a TJS graduate and former Madison resident, will be the headliner for the event. “We are thrilled to have a former TJS alumni showing support to her alma mater and headlining the event,” said Gretchen Sinha, event chair, in a release.
The comedy set is scheduled to be hosted by Jared Freid (TruTv, Brobible.com) and headlined by Hendricks (Bravo TV!, VH1). Hendricks is currently the host of the Loews Hotel TV channel. She performs comedy regularly around New York City and since 2009 has produced and performed at her own monthly show, “Chardonnay and Dreams,” in the East Village, which has seen drop-in performances from Jim Gaffigan, Darrell Hammond and Iliza Shlesinger. In 2009, she was a semi-finalist in California’s Funniest Female Contest. Additionally, she performed as part of the NYC Underground Comedy Festival in 2009 and 2010. Most recently, she was selected to perform in the upcoming 2012 Laughing Skull Comedy Festival. Many unique silent auction items will be available for guests to bid on, including many one-of-a-kind experiences. Some examples may include exclusive concert tickets from New York City classic rock station Q104.3; a skating and lunch outing with Olympian and Madison resident JoJo Starbuck; tickets to the Rachael Ray Show; tickets to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and more.
is providing the night’s hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar will be available for wine and beer. Music entertainment will begin at 7 p.m. featuring acoustic selections by Kathleen Wallace, a second grade teacher at TJS, as well as headliner band Kings Road, a local Madison rock band.
Past TJS PTO events have enabled the organization to support the school by bringing in guest speakers for enrichment programs, purchasing smartboards for use in the classrooms, installing a rock wall for use in physical education classes, putting in new stage curtains and an audio system in the auditorium, adding playground equipment, purchasing new computers for the computer lab, and supporting the teachers and students on a regular basis with other on-going needs.
