TMC & Girl Scout Troop # 5631 Team Up for CASA

CASA of Morris/Sussex Counties Receives Fleece Blankets

Girl Scout Troop # 5631 and TMC members Susan Elko, Janice Corte and TMC President Betty Landi met two nights in January at the Madison Community House to make fleece blankets. TMC members taught the Girl Scouts, all juniors at Madison High School, how to make the blankets.

It was a great partnership and everyone enjoyed the project. The girls made nine blankets, which TMC Advocates for Children representative Janice Corte presented to CASA Director Lisa Firkser of CASA of Morris & Sussex Counties. These blankets are donated for children in foster care.

This is just one of many activities and organizations the Thursday Morning Club supports to assist with needs in the community. Established in 1896, and a member of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs, the TMC has a long history of service while also providing women with the opportunity to socialize and establish friendships.
